Alexander Shakow is a world-renowned economist. He has enjoyed a distinguished career and has worked with the World Bank and United States Agency for International Development. Currently, he works as an Independent consultant at the World Bank. During his tenure at the World Bank, between 1981-2002, he was the Deputy Secretary World Bank Group World Bank/International Monetary Fund (in 1997—2002); and the Acting vice president and Secretary during 2001—2002. Prior to joining the World Bank, Alexander Shakow was associated with the United States Agency for International Development and held many high level positions such as Assistant Administrator for Program and Policy, Director, Office of Development and Planning, Bureau of Asia; and Director of Affairs for Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
